The Ideal Camera for Every Situation
With a Leica V-Lux 3, your creative freedom is boundless. Its 24× super-telephoto zoom makes capturing sweeping landscapes just as easy as bringing even the smallest details into the foreground. Thanks to its newly developed 12.1-megapixel CMOS image sensor, the camera captures images in exceptional quality. At the same time, the video capability of the V-Lux 3 allows the recording of moving pictures in full-HD quality.
Perfect handling
The V-LUX 3 houses its superb range of equipment in a light and compact housing, which fits perfectly in the hand thanks to its integrated handle and can even be used for single-handed photography. The 3" LCD monitor with 460,000 pixel rotates and tilts in all directions and allows pictures to be composed from unusual perspectives, including overhead shots. However, the photographer can switch to the electronic viewfinder at any time at the push of a button. It can be read perfectly even in extremely bright sunshine and allows a more stable camera position supported on the head for telephoto shots. The integrated HDMI interface allows movies and photos to be viewed on any standard HD television.
Flexible adaptation
The V-LUX 3 adapts flexibly to any requirements. If you wish, the camera will set the aperture, exposure time, focus, sensitivity and much more automatically for you, or you can choose from the painstakingly coordinated range of themes - including a 3D mode for three-dimensional shots in MPO format. If exceptional situations demand, or greater control is required, all picture parameters can of course be set
conveniently by hand. The ergonomically positioned controls ensure a secure grip of the V-LUX 3 at all times. The additional zoom lever on the side of the lens contributes to this, and allows uniform, smooth zooming without removing the finger from the shutter release, particularly for filming.
Versatile software for free download
V-LUX 3 owners can download the Adobe® Photoshop® Elements image editing software and the Adobe® Premiere® Elements video editing tool free of charge. Combining the two programs from the Adobe family opens up almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to picture and video composition. It has never been so easy to create distinctive pictures and videos for printing, the web and for mobile
devices.
Adobe® Photoshop® Elements
This versatile and easy to operate complete solution can be used to view, organize, manage and edit photos. Comprehensive options allow intuitive image editing, for both compressed images and raw data. Practical: The before/after view enables the editing results to be compared with the original at all times.
Adobe® Premiere® Elements
The easy to operate video software is tailored to the AVCHD format on the V-LUX 3 and can be used to produce video animations as well as professional audio and video effects. For everyone who likes to maintain an overview: The Media Manager provides an effective way to manage video data.
Extreme range of focal lengths
What makes the V-Lux 3 so special is its 24× super-telephoto zoom lens. This Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 1:2.8-5.2/4.5-108 mm ASPH. lens has an enormous range of focal lengths covering the spectrum from a 25 mm wide angle to a 600 mm super-telephoto lens. On the one hand, its 25 mm wide angle setting enables photographers to strongly emphasise perspectives, while on the other hand, its 600 mm telephoto setting captures pin-sharp details of objects even at extremely long distances - even when shooting handheld, thanks to the efficiency of its Power OIS image stabiliser. If you like to shoot landscapes, architecture, sport, travel, portraits or wildlife, the flexibility of its lens makes the V-Lux 3 the ideal camera for every situation.
Exceptional image quality
The newly developed 12.1-megapixel CMOS image sensor guarantees the exceptional image quality of the Leica V-Lux 3. It ensures that images are almost totally free of noise - even under adverse lighting conditions and when using high-sensitivity settings. With its high contrast range and natural, perfectly saturated colours, the V-Lux 3 sets entirely new standards in its class - for still pictures and video alike.
Video in full-HD quality
The V-Lux 3 captures full-HD video in AVCHD format with 1920 × 1080 pixels and 60 full frames per second. This 1080p60 video format not only guarantees the perfect rendition of fast movement in outstanding detail, but is also ideal for conversion to alternative resolutions and refresh rates. For instance, conversion to MP4 format, which can be quickly and conveniently transferred for use on mobile devices and the Web without any further conversion. An integrated stereo microphone with a wind-noise filter ensures outstanding audio quality. A deletion option for individual sequences means that editing can begin in the camera without having to download the data to a software-based editing suite.
Sensationally fast
Speed has the utmost priority in the V-Lux 3. The autofocus system reacts in less than a tenth of a second and reliably captures fast-moving subjects. The continuous-shooting rate is also impressive. The V-Lux 3 delivers consecutive burst shooting at a rate of up to 12 frames per second, even at full resolution; at a reduced resolution of 3.5 megapixels it manages a fantastic 60 frames per second. Users will capture every action and important moment, even when shooting sports or wildlife.
