LEICA MACRO SET M
The attractive set includes the LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90 mm f/4, the LEICA MACRO-ADAPTER-M for M 90 mm f/4 and the M ANGLEFINDER. It is a real boon for shooting in the macro mode, as when shooting flowers, insects and other close-up subjects, and is a great portrait lens.
Supremely Versatile Macro Telephoto
You can use the LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90mm f/4 either on its own or together with the LEICA MACRO-ADAPTER-M. With the LEICA-MACRO-ADAPTER-M this lens permits macro shots to a magnification of 1:3. Without the adapter, it serves as a compact 90 mm telephoto lens. When retracted, it is no larger than a 50 mm lens.
90 mm-lenses are traditionally very popular among Leica M photographers. Along with the 35- and 50mm-models, they belong to most standard outfits. With its low weight and compact dimensions the LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90mm f/4 is first choice whenever you wish to limit your outfit to a minimum without forfeiting the maximum in image quality. Its performance is very good across the whole image field, and it stands any comparison with the already legendary LEICA MACRO-ELMARIT-R 100mm f/2.8.
MACRO-ADAPTER-M
The LEICA MACRO-ADAPTER M attaches quickly and easily to the LEICA MACRO-ELMAR M 90 mm f/4 lens so it can be used for close-up photography. It acts as an extension tube, permitting shots at distances from 0.77 to 0.5 meters. This distance range yields magnifications from 1:6.7 to 1:3, meaning that objects ranging in size from 161x241 mm down to 72x108 mm can fill the entire 24x36mm format. The two elements comprising the LEICA MACRO-ADAPTER M ensure automatic parallax compensation for the Leica M's viewfinder, and provide an integrated mechanism the transmits the distance setting, ensuring correct positioning of the viewfinder frame.
For close-ups with the Leica M and LEICA MACRO-ELMAR-M 90 mm f/4, the LEICA MACRO-ADAPTER M is first locked into the camera's bayonet mount in the same manner as a lens.
Then the LEICA MACRO-ELMAR M 90 mmf/4 is rotated 180 degrees, so the depth-of-field and distance scales for the close-up range are at the top. In this position it is mounted on the bayonet of the LEICA MACRO-ADAPTER M - and that's it.
