About Us

Dale Photo and Digital is your one-stop shop for all things photographic. We carry a full line of cameras and lenses from Nikon, Leica, Canon, Mamiya and Zeiss, as well as a large range of photo accessories, such as tripods from Gitzo and Manfrotto, lighting from Profoto and Elinchrom, and bags from Crumpler, Kata and Tenba. We offer a full range of lab services through our pro lab, Dale Laboratories, and a wide range of photographic classes and workshops at our Dale Photo Academy.

Our
Mission

Our mission is simple: To serve discerning photographers of all levels with expert advice, fair prices and great service. We try to help our customers be better photographers, not just sell boxes off a shelf. We believe in personal service and selling the correct product for each person’s individual needs, not the one with the most markup. We don't sell aftermarket warranties or any non-USA warranty merchandise. We believe in honesty and integrity, not a quick buck. We also chose not to sell cheap or shoddily-made products, because we wouldn't use these ourselves. All of our photographic advisors are photographers themselves. Photography is our passion, not just our business.

Our Store

Dale Photo and Digital is located in Hollywood, FL, just off of I-95 and Sheridan Street. This is conveniently situated between Fort Lauderdale to the north and Miami to the south. The Fort Lauderdale Airport and the beach are both just five minutes away. Our facility is 12,500 square feet, of which 1,500 square feet is our photo superstore. The rest is our nationally renowned pro lab, Dale Laboratories, as well as classrooms and our warehouse space.

Our Lab

We believe in delivering the best quality prints and enlargements possible to photographers of all levels. Each and every image that comes into our lab is individually color-corrected by an experienced operator. For prints 14x20 and larger, we actually make 8x10 test prints. While this is an anomaly in today’s pro labs, we feel that delivering any less than the best isn’t good enough. All of our digital production is color-managed and our operators use Eizo ColorEdge monitors for correction. Our printing machines are balanced daily each morning and every single paper emulsion is retested at least once a week to maintain absolute consistency.

We use Noritsu 34 Series digital printers as well as a Durst Theta 51 for larger prints. All of these systems use laser exposure systems, with RA4 developing. All prints are made on Kodak Professional Supra Endura paper. If you’d like a tour of the lab, please drop by.

Dale Photo Academy

The Dale Photo Academy was founded in order to provide continuing education for photographers. With topics ranging from exposure theory to advanced studio lighting technique, there are classes for all types of photographic interests and skill levels. Classes are small, usually limited to 10-12 students. Workshops are hands-on with individual instruction. Take a look at our current offerings and book classes here.

Test Drive Program

Our unique Test Drive program allows you to try out equipment before buying. We offer a large selection of cameras, lenses and lighting equipment for rent at extremely reasonable prices. We even treat a weekend from Friday to Monday as one rental day, not three. Once you've had an opportunity to actually use the products you are considering buying, we apply 100% of all your rentals within the last 30 days to any purchase of a DSLR, lens, or lighting kit. Needless to say, this program is extremely popular. So, we recommend you call to book in advance.

Meet the Family

Dale Photo and Digital is a family-run business. Dale and Elaine Farkas started the business in 1973 in Dale’s mother’s Long Island basement. Shortly after, they relocated to sunny South Florida. Today, their son, David and his wife Juliana manage the retail and online operations, while Dale oversees the lab.
